IBM® SPSS® Data Collection Author (formerly PASW® Data Collection Author), with its intuitive GUI and intelligent Wizards, makes it easy to create simple or complex surveys.

IBM SPSS Data Collection Author offers powerful functionality for creating attractive and penetrating surveys, with complete control over the creative process. The software is available in desktop or multi-user server editions.

  • Role-based access – Customize and manage the tasks assigned users. Role-based access restricts users from viewing, editing, or adding to a survey without proper privileges. Role- based access is implemented on both the Desktop and Server editions of IBM SPSS Data Collection Author when projects are located on IBM SPSS Data Collection Interviewer Server Administration
  • Hierarchical data (unbounded loops) – Create unbounded loops for iterations based on a response to a preceding numeric question (e.g., to collect household, doctor, patient, and treatment data)
  • Hierarchical data (database questions) – Create single response, multiple response, and loop questions where the category lists are generated by a connection to an external database, ensuring that lists are standardised and always consistent, and can easily be updated
  • "If block" routing – Create complex logical routings using the conditional statements If, Else If, and Else.
  • Project templates – Save complex project settings to templates that make it easier to create and configure projects:
    • Save a project, including all associated files and settings, including any special sample management setting, as a project template that can be used again and again for different surveys
    • Create a new project based on the files and settings of an existing project template
    • Store and access project templates from an IBM SPSS Data Collection Interviewer Server, IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services, or a local directory or library
