IBM SPSS Statistics Server

Faster performance, customized analytic access for business users and greater security in enterprise deployments

  • Overview
  • Features and Benefits
  • System Requirements

Gain enterprise-strength performance, improved productivity and security, and interactive online delivery of analysis to your customers, colleagues and other business users.

IBM® SPSS® Statistics Server (formerly PASW® Statistics Server) offers all the features of IBM SPSS Statistics but with powerful performance to drive improved outcomes because the processing is centralized on the server machine. This eliminates the need to transfer data over the network, which saves time, improves productivity and enhances security. Plus, with the new IBM SPSS Statistics portal, you can deliver customized, interactive analysis that meets the specific needs of your internal and external users.

  • Gain faster analytic performance for even the largest datasets across your entire distributed enterprise
  • Improve analyst productivity by freeing up desktop software while analytic tasks are performed on the server
  • Automate and schedule repeated tasks including reports, data preparation and other batch jobs
  • Improve security and enforce standards for sensitive data and intellectual property

IBM SPSS Statistics Server Features

With IBM SPSS Statistics Server, you gain access to additional algorithms, several of which are multi-threaded for improved performance on multi-core hardware. This speeds analytical processing and, with the automation and scheduling capabilities available through IBM SPSS Collaboration and Deployment Services, provides fast and efficient delivery of analytical results while maximizing your investment in information technology.

Techniques available in IBM SPSS Statistics Server include:

Sort and aggregate data inside the database prior to analysis

  • Naïve Bayes algorithm – Predict classification of cases by treating each variable as independent and equal
  • Predictor Selection algorithm – Filter large amounts of irrelevant data to obtain only features relevant for modeling
  • Optimized multi-threading – Perform analytical tasks with greater speed and ease

Features for more efficient administration include:

  • Ability to provide administration rights to users
  • Batch-processing capabilities for efficient use of processing resources
  • 32- and 64- bit versions
  • Firewall compatible – connect outside your company firewall using (SSL)
  • VPN compatible
  • No limits on CPUs and cores
  • Supports sorting by third-party applications
  • Data protection – all data resides and is processed on the server
  • Increased performance – analyze large files over WAN

What’s New in IBM Statistics 19

Faster Performance – Save time when creating reports that involve large tables or a large number of smaller tables. Creating pivot tables in the output is now 2 to 3 times faster than before. In addition, tables will also take up less memory.

Automatic Linear Models – A new family of algorithms makes it possible for business analysts and analytic professionals to build powerful linear models in an easy and automated manner.

Syntax Editor – More than a dozen performance and ease-of-use enhancements for writing syntax in the syntax editor based on customer feedback including tooltip tip displaying the ‘name,’ improved scrolling, improved indentation of lines, toggle ‘off’ commenting, ability to split the syntax editor window and many more.

Default Measurement Level – When a data file is opened, a measurement level is automatically assigned so business analysts can focus on solving their business problem rather than manually setting the measurement level.

IBM System z Support – Run IBM SPSS Statistics Base Server on your IBM System z machines using Linux – for powerful, enterprise-wide analysis.
