SPSS for Macintosh Wins Macworld Eddy Award

CHICAGO, 01/09/01

Macworld magazine has awarded SPSS for Macintosh the 16th Annual Editors' Choice (Eddy) Award. The first Mac version of its statistical analysis software released by SPSS Inc. (NASDAQ: SPSS) since 1995, SPSS 10.0 for Macintosh won the award in the “Best Data Management Software” category. Winners were announced in a ceremony Jan. 8, 2001, just prior to the Macworld trade show in San Francisco.

"This is such an honor,” said Marcus Hearne, associate product manager at SPSS. “We released the SPSS for Macintosh product just a few short months ago and we are thrilled with the response - and with this award. Its immediate success demonstrates the tremendous need for powerful analytical techniques within the Macintosh-user community."

The Eddy Awards, the Macintosh industry's highest distinction for breakthrough product development, are given to honor the top software and hardware products in the Mac market. Macworld editors and the Macworld Lab review hundreds of new products every year, evaluating each for technological innovation, quality, performance, user friendliness, and value in order to determine the finalist list. Winners in 75 categories will be published in the March 2001 issue of Macworld magazine and on macworld.com following the ceremony on Jan. 8.

SPSS 10.0 is a modular, integrated product line for data access, data preparation, reporting, graphics and advanced analysis. The new release updates Macintosh users to the latest version and delivers significant new capabilities in all areas of the product line, including: new modules; predictive capabilities for data mining; and dynamic, interactive graphics on the Macintosh. The product is currently shipping. For more information go to http://www.spss.com/spss10/spss10mac/ .
