Chicago Software Association Issues Top Honor to Jack Noonan

SPSS Inc. Chief Recognized With CSA's Leadership Award

CHICAGO, 11/11/99

Celebrating his creative vision and business savvy, the Chicago Software Association (CSA) presented SPSS Inc. President and CEO Jack Noonan with its Leadership Award at the 1999 CSA Annual Achievement Awards. The Leadership Award is given to the top executive of a member company whose guidance has been instrumental in the success of his or her organization. Noonan was recognized for building a cohesive organization, exhibiting a gift for prudent risk taking and providing significant volunteer support for the betterment of the community.

"Jack Noonan is an outstanding representative of what it takes to build and maintain a competitive organization in the technology marketplace," said Candace Renwall, director of the CSA. "He exemplifies what it takes to ensure that Illinois can establish itself as a high-tech mecca."

"I am honored to be selected for this Leadership Award," Noonan said. "It's a very exciting time to be a part of SPSS and it's gratifying that our goals and direction are supported by the CSA. As our new tagline, 'data mining makes the difference,' suggests, SPSS software development in Chicago will continue to grow and impact the business intelligence market."

Since becoming president and chief executive officer of SPSS Inc. (Nasdaq: SPSS) in 1992, Noonan's technological vision and direction have taken SPSS from a small entrepreneurial organization with a single product offering to an intelligent, business-minded public company with multiple lines of business. Today, more than 250,000 organizations worldwide use SPSS software to create and distribute information for better decision making. Noonan's strategy of combining internal development with acquisitions has led SPSS through nine corporate acquisitions, the most key of those being the late-1998 acquisition of Integral Solutions Ltd., which helped solidify SPSS' data mining leadership role. These acquisitions have made SPSS the leading provider of market research software in the world.
