SPSS Awarded 'CRM Solution of the Year'

ROI Achieved By Natexis Assurances Prompts Industry Recognition

LONDON, 06/02/04

SPSS Inc. (NASDAQ: SPSSE) has been announced the winner of the customer relationship management (CRM) category in The Banker Technology Awards 2004, run by the Financial Times Group. The predictive analytics company has won the high-profile financial sector award for the results it has delivered at Natexis Assurances, the insurance division of the French leading bank, Groupe Banque Populaire. Using PredictiveMarketing™ from SPSS, a software application for marketing campaign optimisation, Natexis has been able to reduce direct mail volumes by 50%, whilst doubling revenues.

PredictiveMarketing enables Natexis’ marketing department to better understand and predict individual customer needs at any time, and proactively select the most appropriate customers for campaigns that will generate the highest return for the company. This enabled the company to significantly increase the effectiveness of outbound campaigns and generate qualified leads for the local branches, achieving 1.6 million Euro of additional revenues on a single campaign.

“SPSS PredictiveMarketing offers clear value for banks looking to improve the effectiveness of outbound campaigns - usually a costly exercise,” said Parveen Bansal, technology editor at The Banker.  “With the ability to maximise campaign returns by 25-50%, reduce direct mail costs by 30-40%, reduce customer attrition by 15% and increase revenues, SPSS has gained an impressive client list.”

“PredictiveMarketing typically helps companies reduce marketing costs by a third, whilst increasing revenues,” said Marcel Holsheimer, vice-president of vertical product marketing at SPSS. “The recently launched new version even delivers additional profits on campaigns. Many leading financial institutions are already reaping the benefits of these SPSS applications. This award is another proof of the recognition our solutions get in the market and the quick benefits they provide.”

The Banker Technology Awards are run by the leading global industry publication in conjunction with the Financial Times Group, and recognises best-of-breed, innovation and success in financial technology. It honours vendors who have made a significant contribution to advancing shareholder value and customer service within financial institutions during the last 12 months.
