PASW Data Collection Server Maintenance
Course description:
This course has been designed to give a new Dimensions System Administrator the essential skills required to understand the Dimensions server systems and architecture, troubleshoot and monitor that environment and how to tackle their daily administrative tasks. The course starts with a simulation of how end users might be interacting with the environment. The attendee is then given a thorough grounding of what files, folders, components and services are installed on the relevant tiers in a Dimensions environment. With an understanding of that environment, we then review the components of a Regular Maintenance Plan. Following this, various methods of monitoring the system and potential optimization options are introduced. Considerable time is then spent learning how to troubleshoot and resolve issues that may arise and finally we go over some ‘Best Practices’
Objectives:
By the end of this course you will have learned how to:
- Set up a continual maintenance plan to keep the servers running at an optimal level
- Work with the performance counters to monitor the health of the environment
- Review and query log and event files to isolate and resolve any potential issues within the Dimensions server systems
Notes: This course covers a sub-set of the topics covered in the Dimensions System Administration course. The course is standardized on Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 The course does not cover the Quancept Support Option.
