Dimensions Scripting: Data Management I

(formerly mrStudio Data Management: Foundation)

Course description:

The course covers the basics of Dimensions and the SPSS MR Data Model in sufficient detail to get users into the concepts of Data Management using Dimensions. The attendee starts off at the very basic operations of reading and writing data files, data cleaning, and data validation. Then, when they have an appreciation of the Data Management Timeline, they move on to creating more complex scripts, which control applications on their computer systems. Through progressive iterations of script building, the attendee develops skills in handling mrStudio features and some of the basics of handling system and Microsoft Office applications to achieve significant, but everyday, Data Management tasks. A focus of the latter parts of the course is developing skills in creating new columns of data and populating them with data values. Throughout the course, the attendee will be introduced to Object based programming principles and constructs.

Who Should Attend:

Designed for users who will be involved in the data management aspects of the project, such as data cleaning and validation (such as checking for routing pattern logic).

Prerequisite:

There are no pre-requisites for this course; familiarity with object-oriented programming, such as Visual Basic Script, would be an advantage.
